FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Questions, Answered
WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT?
Naturopathic doctors are trained in primary, preventive and integrative care. What this means, is that our first goal is to provide you with lifestyle and non-pharmaceutical care to prevent and treat your health concerns. This being said, if a condition is outside of our scope, we will refer you to the appropriate practioner, but continue to provide supportive care where possible. For example, while we do not provide naturopathic cancer care at this clinic, we do provide nutrition and acupuncture care to lessen the side effects of conventional care, along with educating those with a family history of cancer how to prevent it!
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?
Naturopathic medicine isn't a magic wand, where you can expect years of health problems to be resolved with one visit, although I wish it was! The first session involves a thorough intake process including questions about personal and family health history, and will also involve relvant physical assessment. You can expect to be in the office for at least an hour. Basic recommendations may be made during the first visit, but often research needs to be done in order to provide you with a complete treatment plan, which will be discussed with you during your second visit. If booking for an acute concern, acupuncutre treatments may also be offered during the first visit.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST TREATMENT?
Before your first visit, be sure to complete the intake forms that will be emailed to you upon booking your initial consult. These are quite extensive, so take your time. Please bring any medications or supplements you are currently taking (prescribed or otherwise) with you to your first visit as your naturopathic doctor will want to review them. Also, if you have any copies of recent labwork, this will be helpful as well. Lastly, please come prepared with any questions you have. We are happy to discuss your them with you!
